A long awaited welcome to the FLOSSToday List
Hi,
A warm welcome to FLOSSToday - a mailing list dedicated to spreading the word about Free/Libre Open Source Software events in India and South-East Asia.
In recent times, the FLOSS movement has seen tremendous activity from South-East Asia and especially India. With applications and usage of FLOSS in the domains that are socially relevant, such movements play a pivotal role in the ICT4D initiatives that are being implemented across the region. New business models, methods and processes have emerged which challenge existing ideas and come across as true representatives of the "disruptive" aspects of FLOSS. Each brings new events, happenings and thoughts. The true champions of such a globally distributed movement are the countless road warriors who toil away with unbridled enthusiasm to make a dream come true. They cherish an ideal and work ceaselessly at attaining their objectives.
FLOSSToday aims to be a medium to disseminate information about such events, roadshows, conferences, symposia and meets. Nothing is too small to be posted here, no event themed around FLOSS is irrelevant. At the end, it also aims to provide visibility to the bands of developers, volunteers, enthusiasts, FSUGs, LUGs, GLUGs, technocrats, who contribute in their own unique way to take the movement forward.
All mailing lists follow a general protocol, and FLOSSToday is no exception. The following general rules apply ::
* no HTML or otherwise non-plaintext formatted mails
* no spams (spam filters are in place, but this is a formal announcement all the same)
* no attachments to the list (unless requested beforehand to the ListAdmin)
* no mail over 40KB in size
* no commercial mail (unless the ListOwner feels it merits posting)
We hope that together we will be successful in talking about what is happening today, thus defining the roadmap for the future.
Have a wonderful day and may the source be with you
Warm regards
