Sometime back when we began toying with the notion of providing Low Cost Computing in local languages, the idea was to find a best fit solution that would be fulfilling and enriching. Technologically, the hurdles were not too many and have been well documented. What we ran into was the lack of adequate study material which would complement the efforts and the investments. In this respect, the National Institute of Open Schooling is perhaps most ideally placed to incubate this effort. An industry-government collaborative platform aimed at providing and delivering content would lead to a resolution of a lot of issues related to impediments in large scale adoption of FLOSS in education.
