Unusual times...
It is a sad comment on the state of affairs when an article in a leading magazine comments on the unique nature of the youngsters failing to compose a letter in proper fashion. Sometime back I had written about the same when responses started to stream in related to a job vacancy posting. It is really unusual to see such lax and casual attitude towards employment opportunities.
An off the cuff remark would be that the age of SMS and connectivity through IMs are the bane of such poor communication efforts. But as so often pointed out by Runa (my fiancee) not everything can be put at the door of the instant messenger culture. There is somewhere a disjoint in the way we teach our kids which has made them get the idea that as long as the recipient understands the intent of the message - Anything Goes...
For those looking towards the year end specials in the newspapers, it has nothing of note. Surprisingly (it is also odd that I am surprised) the major dailies like ToI and others have managed to make this last Sunday of 2004 eminently forgettable based on the quality of content.
