Siachen Bound. by Anoop Negi
A bunch of nomads cross over the waters of the river Shyok enroute to Siachen and its lower reaches. The Siachen glacier is in the Karakoram range and this area is sometimes dubbed as the 3rd Pole. It is glaciated, cold, inhospitable and the highest battleground on earth. The average height is about 20000 feet and temperatures in winter are at about -50 degrees celsius. Frankly I could be wrong, these nomads could well be headed to another more hospitable valley like Nubra on the old Kasghar route.
